Ukraine 2019 Update!

Dear POW Supporters,

We are excited to announce a new missions partnership with Hope Haven Ukraine! Amy Gomes began a school in Ukraine in 2010 for special needs children. The school allowed parents of special needs children to enroll their child in school for the first time. Many parents are encouraged to place children with special needs in orphanages, even if they do not want to do this. The school has worked to not only support these parents but also normalize people with special needs and provide more opportunities for them.

Because of the political situation in Ukraine, the government did not allow the school to continue operating in 2018, and the workers transformed the building into a home for elderly people who needed help (at the government’s request). This ministry to the elderly is going very well and the home is currently at capacity. Residents are provided with spiritual encouragement, Bible study, and physical care.

The special needs community did not allow government interference to discourage them, and another school is being constructed in a different town with less surveillance. The children are currently attending school in someone’s home, and the school building is nearing completion. The community has paid for $20,000 of this school out of their own funding and needs $10,000 to complete the building with no loans. Priority One Worldwide is partnering to help complete the school by offering a dollar-for-dollar match for any donations up to $5,000. Would you consider helping to fund this school for children with special needs?

Hope Haven Ukraine will also be looking for monthly sponsors for both their special needs school as well as their elderly care ministry this year. Their expenses include salaries for caregivers and teachers. All other expenses are paid for by the local church and community. Please consider a monthly sponsorship for either of these two amazing ministries.

Thank you for your continued commitment to international missions. It is a privilege to be able to take part in a ministry happening in a restricted area all the way across the world!
